In a perfect world, I would drink Champagne every day.
But it is my birthday, and a very significant one. So at least on this day, it is a perfect day for bubbly!
It has been a birthday weekend, actually and all this celebrating has been, frankly, exhausting! Friday late night wines after work. A Saturday party with my dearest friends and family at a local brewery. And a late night bottle of Argyle Nuthouse Pinot Noir.
Today is a day of quiet celebrating, jammies and slippers all day, nibbling on leftover party fare.
And sipping bubbles.
The Chandon Blanc de Noirs is perfect for celebrating with its classy packaging.
And its rich, gorgeous color.
Domaine Chandon was the first California sparkling wine venture by a French Champagne house, in this case Moet & Chandon. Since 1973 Domaine Chandon has been utilizing the traditional Champagne method to produce a uniquely California sparkling wine. This Blanc de Noirs is a blend of vintages and of different lots of Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier grapes.
HERE IS THE WOW!
The yellow-gold color is just slightly tinged with a pink hue. On the nose, aromas of citrus, ripe apple and red berries mingle with yeasty notes.
A taste reveals mouth-filling, creamy bubbles balanced with bright zesty acidity. Flavors are light but varied with lemon citrus, apple alongside cherry, strawberry and vanilla. Flavors finish with almond and a little zip of dry lemon pith.
Wine Enthusiast suggests pairing this wine with almost anything due to its amazing acidity. In fact my post-party nibbles of red velvet cupcakes and dark chocolate almonds were a fine accompaniment.
Yes Chandon, you had me at Blanc de Noirs! Beautiful and bright, a perfect celebratory sip on my quiet birthday.
THIS WINE IS A WOW! FOR:
Quiet birthday pajama-wearing celebrations;
Drinking everyday!;
A wine drinker who likes a traditional Champagne-method sparkling wine with California style.
