Love and romance is alive and well!. At least in my corner of the world.
I say this with confidence, having just worked in my retail setting through a Valentine's Day weekend. So much champagne, chocolate, flowers, and ingredients for fabulous shared meals! No matter what you might think about Valentine's Day being contrived, I could see peoples' true excitement, happiness and yes, love.
Given our complicated, harried lives, it seems most everyone is happy to set aside a day, simply to celebrate the love we have in our lives.
And so, being aware of the complexities that life brings to our relationships, I chose to join in with everyone and simply celebrate love.
Complicated Red Wine, from the Taken Wine Company, made me chuckle a bit, given all my Valentine's Day insights. Besides, I'm a pushover for a good Grenache!
Taken Wine Company was founded in 2009 by Carlo Trinchero and Josh Phelps who grew up in Napa Valley wine families. I have written earlier about their Taken wine, which is a Napa blend of Cabernet and Merlot. This Complicated blend is not as concentrated, a bit softer, and certainly a lovely potion to share with your love!
HERE'S THE WOW!
The wine is a blend of 53% Grenache, 42% Syrah, and 5% Carignane resulting in a deep violet color. Blackberry and vanilla aromas are supported with black tea, dark chocolate, and spices. The front palate is seductively soft, filled with plum and baking spices, along with black cherry, some savory herb and a nice supporting note of French oak. The long, caressing finish of soft plum may have led us to speak words of poetry by the end of the bottle!
Complicated Red Wine brought an element of joy to the celebration of love. Robert Louis Stevenson may have been correct when he said, "Wine is bottled poetry."
THIS WINE IS A WOW! FOR:
Sharing with your love;
Sipping at an indoor picnic;
Anyone who enjoys the full fruit and depth of California Grenache.
